3.1 PHILLIP LIM opens its latest international boutique at Hilton Shopping Gallery in Singapore. A joint venture partnership with Club 21, this marks the fifth 3.1 Phillip Lim store worldwide, following stores in New York City (2007), Tokyo (2008), Los Angeles (2008), and most recently Seoul (2009).
3.1 PHILLIP LIM new store’s design is an evolution of the themes found in the brand’s preceding locations, effortlessly combining traditional and modern elements to create a compelling retail space. Designed by brother architects Dominic and Chris Leong of Leong Leong Architecture, whose work also includes 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Los Angeles and Seoul stores, the store is a study in unexpected spatial experiences and materials.
A series of intimate niches lined in brass frame the clothing, adding a dynamic aspect to the otherwise simple and clear geometry of the space. Wall treatments such as a conical wall texture which erodes into a constellation of brass stars and nude leather tiles embossed with a herringbone pattern add tactile interest against a white concrete floor. Mirrors are used to visually extend the environment, creating a curious mise-en-abyme effect of doubling the space as the walls intersect with the existing boundaries. Clusters of geometric shapes in brass and wood form a shifting landscape to display accessories.
The Singapore 3.1 Phillip Lim store carrys the eponymous women’s collection by Phillip Lim, including complete accessories range including shoes, belts, bags, seasonal signature runway jewelry and special
collaboration projects.
