AUDI Fashion festival Red Carpet Gala Night 2012 showcased CoSTUME NATIONAL Fall Winter 2012/2013 collection by Italian designer Ennio Capasa, the unveiling of highly anticipated new Audi R8 GT Spyder and Audi Star Creation Winners Collection. Nicola Formichetti also known as Lady Gaga Fashion Director and French Fashion House Mulger Creative Director also graced the Audi Red Carpet Night with Sébastien Peigné, designer for Mulger womenswear.
CoSTUME NATIONAL Fall Winter 2012/2013 collection - Ennio Capasa
Inspired by the New Wave-No Wave-Dark Wave movement, Ennio Capasa’s collection of dresses, jackets, tops, skirts and trousers along with the bags , shoes and accessories are made of natural and patent leather in a mix of fabrics and weights in contrasts from double wool crepe with fluid cady, stretch viscose with leather, chintzed and laminated fabrics to juxtaposed with opaque fabrics and screen printed with coated prints.
Dressed in natural and patent leather in black, cobalt blue and ice grey with matching mixed fabrics and leather, the models oozed an elegance air of futurism with the knee high boots in calf leather, double hard and soft clutches in soft and rigid leather and squared mirrored maxi sunglasses.
Combining androgynous and feminine silhouettes with metropolitan post-punk attitude, the CoSTUME NATIONAL woman express and face the future without fear, dressing up in cobweb mesh tops and leather skirt, complete with long leather gloves and ankle boots.
Held at The Tent@Orchard in front of the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, the Audi Red Carpet gala dinner guests list includes successful Singapore fashion labels alldressedup by iconic fashionista Tina-Tan Leo and Lionel Leo, RAOUL fashion Douglas and Odile Benjamin, Reinhold Carl, Managing Director of Audi Singapore, Audi Fashion Festival Director Ms Tjin Lee and Chairman Dick Lee, Daniel Boey, Thomas Wee, David Wang alongside with international and local media.
Audi Star Creation 2012 Winners Chinese designer Roderic Wong, Thai designer Soravit Kaewkamon, Korean designer Ko Youngji and People’s Choice Award Indonesian designer Natalia Kiantoro were picked from a record 255 entries from 13 countries.
Audi Red Carpet Gala Night 2012 Guest of Honour - Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry & Ministry of National Development, Mr Lee Yi Shyan presented each winner with SGD$10,000 cash cheque from Audi Singapore, an internship with leading fashion retailer F J Benjamin and the chance to launch a capsule collection at Star Creation 2013.
Audi Young Designer Award and Audi Star Creation Winner Chinese designer Roderic Wong - Tissue of Being collection impressed judges with his felting techniques to create different textures and three-dimensional shapes on wool without having to use stitching.
Multiple award winner of Thailand fashion design competitions like Saha Group Bangkok Young Designer Awards 2010 and SINGHA LIFE 2011, Thai designer Soravit Kaewkamon and now Audi Star Creation 2012 Winner won votes for Love and Friendship collection. The colourful and visually impactful designs of embroidered feathers creates smooth shapes, defined cuts and strong structure with masculine edge for the androgynous collection.
Audi Star Creation Winner Korean designer Ko Youngji - Li Jin Collection is a neo-ethnic take on the saekdong made by patchworking on the hanbok, the traditional Korean dress. Inspired by the Korean court dancer of Joseon Dynasty-era Korea who moved to Paris in the late 19th century, Youngji fuses traditional Korean dressmaking (Young Ji’s grandmother was a hanbok designer) with Western fabric like cotton and polyester for her fluid collection.
Audi Star Creation People Choice Award Indonesian designer Natalia Kiantoro Kiantoro - Tangled collection is inspired by both natural and man-made twisted objects and uses drapes and pleats on jersey and silk to add volume, and shapes her pieces into the twists and turns she wants to depict.
This year’s judges also included Mr Reinhold Carl, Managing Director of Audi Singapore, Mr Colin McDowell, Creative Director of the Audi Fashion Festival 2012, Mr Mario Boselli, President of the Italian Chamber of Fashion and Milan Fashion Week, and Ms Angelia Teo, Content Director, Asia Pacific, WGSN.
Nicola Formichetti, Creative Director for French fashion house MUGLER, oversees Sébastien Peigné, designer for Mulger womenswear and Romain Kreme, designer for Mulger menswear graced the Audi Red Carpet Gala Night 2012, AFF Press Conference and Mulger Opening Show at Audi Fashion Festival.
Nicola is also the fashion director for Lady Gaga and created numerous looks for her, including Born This Way album.
The finale highlight was the unveiling of Audi R8 GT Spyder Matte Effect Sphere Blue at the Red Carpet Night, a highly coveted coupe where only 333 units are available worldwide, of which 3 have been reserved for the Singapore market priced at $900,000 and 1 was sold within minutes at the gala dinner!
The evening ended on a high with Julia Abueva, known as the ‘Girl with the Big Voice’ serenading the guests with laser violinist Jo Allen who flew in specially from London for the Audi Red Carpet Night.
