SOCIETE GENERALE PRIVATE BANKING 1ST RENDEZVOUS WITH FRENCH CINEMA SINGAPORE 2011

Singapore launches the Societe Generale Private Banking 1st Rendezvous With French Cinema, a prestigious film festival that showcases the best of contemporary French Movies . More than 20 films will be screened across four venues – Alliance Française Theatre, Golden Village Vivocity, Shaw Theatres Lido, The Cathay Cineplex cinemas from 8 to 13 December 2011.

The Gala Opening of the Societe Generale Private Banking 1st Rendezvous With French Cinema will offcially launch Asia Television Forum (ATF),  bringing to Singapore 12 sales agent companies from France. The programme will feature new film releases including new French Films premiering in Asia, Singapore to encourage wider distribution of French movies in the region.

The Festival will open with The Artist, a film directed by Michel Hazanavicius and stars one of France’s leading actors of the day, Jean Dujardin, who won the Best Actor Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for his role in the film.

Among others, the films that will be premiering at the Festival include, The Well- Digger’s Daughter, the directorial debut of celebrated French actor, Daniel Auteuil; Special Forces by director Stéphane Rybojad, Point Blank directed by Fred Cavayé, A Happy Event directed by Rémi Bezançon and Free Men by director Ismaïl Ferroukhi.

Carole Bouquet, the leading lady of French Cinemas, Chanel Model and Bond Girl will grace the Gala Premiere. The Festival will also pay homage  through a Retrospective segment featuring five of her films. Ms Bouquet will lead the delegation of actors and directors coming to Singapore including directors Stéphane Rybojad, Rémi Bezançon, Mathieu Demy, Fred Cavayé, Rithy Panh and Ismaïl Ferroukhi, actor Pio Marmaï from the film, A Happy Event, actress Ludivine Sagnier from the film The Beloved and Astrid Berges-Frisbey from the film, The Well-Digger’s Daughter.

VivoCity supported a worthy cause as the Grand Patron of the Elephant Parade exhibition held in Singapore. A herd of  25 life-sized  beautifully hand-painted elephant sculptures designed by international and local celebrities and artists  were displayed at VivoCity’s Sky Park and The Plaza, helping to raise awareness about the endangered Asian Elephant. The elephants will be auctioned off after 6 January 2012.

In conjunction with the exhibition, VivoCity  recently  set a new entry in the Singapore Book of Records on 19 November for  The Largest Display of Hand-Painted Elephants where shoppers painted their own elephant sculptures simultaneously and form the largest herd of hand-painted elephants in Singapore.

Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair will mark her historic first visit to Singapore and will Berth in VivoCity,  from 16 to 30 December. Logos Hope is celebrating Christmas in Singapore with a unique Christmas cultural performance on 17 and 18 December at VivoCity’s Amphitheatre, presenting a taste of  diverse cultures and showcase how various nationalities celebrate Christmas in their home countries.
